Young Scientists' Forum is a yearly competition held during the Annual Convention of the Philippine Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Five students from some 20+ applicants from across the country are chosen to pitch their thesis work in front of conference delegates and a distinguished panel of judges. The following members of the laboratory have emerged winners of the YSF through the years:

In the last seven years, the top 2 winners of Youth Science Forum were awarded a two-month internship at Academia Sinica in Taiwan. Arman Ghodsinia, Jose Gabriel Hilario, Joshua Miguel Danac, Joseph Neos Cruz, Chloe Borromeo, John Rafael Ambag, Andrei Phillip David, and Daniel Angelo Mirador were recipients of the award.

BPI Best Project of the Year

The BPI-DOST Best Project of the Year is an annual research competition for final year undergraduates, jointly sponsored by Bank of the Philippine Islands Foundation and the Department of Science and Technology.  It recognizes students who excel in specialized fields of science such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering, computer science, biology and environmental science. In 2013, Jann Adriel Sy won first place for his study  on "Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the 3' untranslated region of the pregnane X receptor gene and inter-individual variability in drug responses".
